Those who have served in the military and those who have been incarcerated share a powerful, often overlooked reality: both have lived through environments that demand constant survival, discipline, and emotional suppression. These conditions can leave lasting trauma long after the uniform is folded or the sentence is served.
This initiative seeks to build a meaningful support network connecting formerly incarcerated individuals with people who have military experience. Through letter writing, emails, phone calls, and in-person visits, we aim to create a space for shared understanding, healing, and growth. By exchanging stories and coping strategies, both groups can process trauma in healthy ways and support one another in rebuilding purpose, stability, and connection. This collaboration is not about reliving the past—it’s about transforming lived experience into strength.
