Empowering Communities Through Support

Mission Statement

Mission Statement

Mission Statement

Group united for supporting incarcerated reentry and community empowerment.

Our mission is to support incarcerated individuals through a robust reentry program that facilitates their successful reentry into society. We aim to build a community-led movement that addresses cycles of harm in our neighborhoods—including gun violence, overdoses, bullying, suicide, homelessness, and recidivism. To achieve this, we will engage colleges, faith communities, educators, healthcare professionals, legal advocates, military veterans, nonprofits, and local leaders to provide comprehensive support services centered in compassion, accountability, and second chances. By expanding access to education, supportive resources, mentorship, and opportunity, we can create a pathway that reduces recidivism, strengthens individuals returning home, and fosters safer, healthier, and more progressive communities.

Group of diverse people smiling in front of open gates with a sunrise background.

We envision a united community movement rooted in compassion, accountability, and second chances—where Roy’s successful reentry is supported through the collective strength of people who believe in restoration over exclusion. This movement brings together council members who advocate for fair and inclusive policies, attorneys who provide guidance and legal clarity, doctors and nurses who support physical and mental well-being, counselors who promote healing and personal growth, and faith leaders and church members who offer spiritual encouragement, mentorship, and hope. Through collaboration with nonprofits and community organizations, this effort seeks to remove barriers to reentry by expanding access to support services, resources, opportunity, and meaningful connection.

We view education as a pathway to transformation, built through partnerships with colleges, educators, and students who are willing to listen to those most impacted by incarceration, and work collaboratively to develop reentry-focused curricula, programs, and creative platforms that amplify incarcerated voices. By engaging institutions of higher learning through dialogue, media projects, and shared learning, we seek to ensure individuals leave incarceration better equipped than when they entered. In addition, we recognize the deep parallels between military service and incarceration, where environments of survival and emotional suppression often result in lasting trauma. By connecting formerly incarcerated individuals with those who have military experience, we create spaces for shared understanding, healing, and the exchange of coping strategies that transform lived experience into strength. What begins with supporting Roy is designed to grow into a model that uplifts others through a comprehensive reentry program, enhancing their successful reentry and strengthening the communities they reenter.

Roy's Story

My name is Roy Jackson Jr. I have been incarcerated since May 6, 2011, for charges of assault in the first and second degree. I currently have five and a half years remaining on my sentence, and I am preparing for a successful reentry into society. To do that, I am seeking support services, opportunities, and community connections that will help me rebuild my life in a positive way.

Throughout my incarceration, I’ve experienced both challenges and growth. Instead of letting adversity define me, I’ve devoted my time to learning, self-improvement, and personal accountability. I’ve completed a variety of programs designed to strengthen my mindset, communication skills, emotional awareness, and future goals, all of which are vital for a successful reentry.

Programs I Have Completed:

- Seven Habits of Highly Effective People

- Acceptance and Communication Therapy

- ACOM 102

- Advanced Skill Building

- Anger Control Training

- Basic Skills General Education Diploma

- Business 157

- Communication Breakdown

- DOCART (Anger Management)

- Fitness Management: Health and Wellness

- Financial Peace University

- Focus on Freedom

- From the Inside Out

- Getting It Right

- T.e.a.c.h African studies

- T.e.a.c.h Healthy Thinking

- Motivation Engagement

- Life Skills Computing

- Health Reconation Therapy

- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

- How To Be A Responsible Father

- English 100

- Construction Trade Apprenticeship Preparation

These programs have helped me grow mentally and emotionally, allowing me to reflect on my choices, understand the impact of my actions, and build the tools I need to become a responsible, productive member of society.

In addition to the programs I've completed while incarcerated, I've also utilized my time by providing valuable resources to young men in the prison system. I’ve given them food and snack bags for the holiday season, helped them with their G.E.D curriculum, resolved conflicts, and more.

My goal is to continue learning, strengthen relationships, and prepare myself for reentry so that I can give back to my community and create a better life for myself and others.

Through completing multiple educational, therapeutic, and personal development programs, Roy has built the skills, discipline, and mindset necessary for successful reentry into society. His commitment now is to reunite with his family, contribute to his community, and continue growing.
